Inherent Racism and the Stockholm Syndrome

Last night radical leftist Janeane Garofalo implied that Herman Cain is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.  She spoke about the inherent racism of the Republican Party.  This is a favorite tool of the liberal progressives.  They like to throw out words that make them appear to be intellectuals so no one stops to think about what they are saying.

First Stockholm Syndrome is a term used to describe a real paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. Second to claim something that the Republican Party has inherent racism is to say the racism is an historically permanent characteristic or attribute of the Republican Party.

One of the reasons liberal Progressives have this innate desire to rewrite history is that there is so little in history that affirms their claims.  In fact, when empty intellectual heads like Garofalo claim something to be true, most often, historically, the exact opposite is true.

The history of the Democratic Party is rife with Racism.

If you are offended by that image you should be.  History shows that the Democratic Party had a clear racist agenda using the issue of “States’ Rights” to defend their alleged right to claim and own slaves. From 1792 to 1865 they passionately fought to preserve the institution of slavery.  Then in 1854 the Republican Party arose with one of its strongest platforms standing for the end of the cruel practice of human slavery.  They met with immediate opposition from the Democratic Party who enacted Fugitive Slave laws.  They instigated the Dred Scott decision in 1856 which legally classified blacks as property.  They fought for the Missouri Compromise in an attempt to spread the institution of slavery into the new Northern States and further solidified this position in the Kansas-Nebraska Act.

In 1861 Northern Democrats became known as “copperheads” in their attempts to appease the South through a negotiated peace which would have allowed blacks to remain in slavery.  These “copperheads” were responsible for several acts of violence against blacks in the north, murdering and maiming blacks in virtually every Northern state.  Anti-Civil War Democrats in New York engaged in “Four Days of Terror” against the city’s black population from July 13-16, 1863, and the anti-Civil War chant of the Democrats, as reported by one Pennsylvania newspaper, was: “Willing to fight for Uncle Sam”, but not “for Uncle Sambo.”

After the Civil War, the Republican Party pushed to amend the Constitution to grant blacks freedom (13th Amendment), citizenship (14th Amendment) and the right to vote (15th Amendment); passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875; and designed Reconstruction, a ten-year period of unprecedented political power for African Americans.  After the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, a democrat, became President during which time the Democratic Party fought to end Reconstruction passing repressive new laws that were known as Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws.

In 1866 the Ku-Klux Klan was formed by Democrats at a Tennessee Social Club in an attempt to use militant authority to harass blacks and Republicans in the South.

In 1894 the Democrats repealed all civil rights laws that had previously been passed and pushed even further in 1896 to enact the “separate but equal” segregation doctrine.  Segregation became the prevailing race policy for Democrats throughout the first half of the 20th century.  In 1912 when Democrat President Woodrow and Congress was controlled by the Democrats, all black American civil employees where pushed out of federal government jobs, and the greatest number of bills proposing racial segregation and discrimination were introduced than had ever been proposed in our nation’s history.  Not to be outdone, Franklin D. Roosevelt banned black American newspapers from the military because he was convinced the newspapers were communists and rejected anti-lynching laws pushed by Republicans, as well as efforts by Republicans to establish a permanent Civil Rights Commission that did not get established until 1958 under Republican President Dwight Eisenhower.

To combat the pressures from the Ku Klux Klan and the Democrats the NAACP was formed by three white Republicans, Oswald Garrison Villard, Mary White Ovington and William English Walling on February 12 1909.  The first black general secretary of the NAACP was black Republican James Weldon Johnson in 1920.

It was Republican Senator Everett Dirksen from Illinois, not Democrat President Lyndon Johnson, who was key to the passage of civil rights legislation in 1957, 1960 and 1964, as well as the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which prohibited discrimination in housing.  Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, a former “Keagle” in the Ku Klux Klan, made a 14-hour filibuster speech in the Senate in June 1964 in an unsuccessful effort to block passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. In 1968 Alabama’s Democrat Governor George C. Wallace started the American Independent Party that attracted other racist candidates, including Democrat Atlanta Mayor Lester Maddox.

Republican President Richard Nixon established Affirmative Action as a merit-based system to help African Americans prosper with his 1969 Philadelphia Plan (crafted by black Republican Art Fletcher) that set the nation’s first goals and timetables, as well as his 1972 Equal Employment Opportunity Act that made merit-based Affirmative Action programs the law of our nation, but Democrats then fought hard to turn Affirmative Action into an unfair quota system not based on merit.

Democrat Senator Robert Byrd who was a fierce opponent of desegregating the military (something that happened under Democratic President Woodrow Wilson) complained in one letter: “I would rather die a thousand times and see old glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again than see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen of the wilds,”

Democrats did not denounce Democrat Senator Christopher Dodd who praised Senator Robert Byrd as someone who would have been “a great senator for any moment,” including the Civil War; yet Democrats denounced Senator Trent Lott for his remarks about Senator Strom Thurmond who was never in the Ku Klux Klan and, after he became a Republican, defended blacks against lynching and the discriminatory poll taxes imposed on blacks by Democrats.

Democrats today have continued to demean and discriminate against blacks including. Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy who called black judicial nominees “Neanderthals;” Democrat Senator Harry Reid who slurred Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as someone who could not write good English;  Vice President Joe Biden, while a Democrat Senator boasted that his home state of Delaware was a slave state and slandered all black former presidential candidates (Rep. Shirley Chisholm who became the first black and the first woman to run for president in 1972; Senator Carol Mosely Braum; Rev. Jesse Jackson; and Rev. Al Sharpton) by declaring that Senator Barack Hussein Obama (the son of an white American woman and a man from Kenya) is the first “clean” black presidential candidate; Democratic Party operatives who depicted Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele on the Internet as a “Simple Sambo;” cartoonist Jeff Danziger and Pat Oliphant who portrayed Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice as a “stooge” and a bare foot, “Ignorant Mammy;”  Senator Hillary Clinton who set the tone for the current race-based slander when she insulted Mahatma Gandhi of India who was a role model for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by calling Gandhi a gas station attendant; and President Bill Clinton who – following in the footsteps of his mentor J. William Fulbright, a staunch segregationist –  was himself sued for discriminating against his black employees while he was the Governor of Arkansas.

There is inherent Racism in one Political Party Ms. Garofalo and if the finger of a Stockholm Syndrome is to be pointed it is to all the blacks who continue to embrace a party who has had a long history of racial intolerance and has successfully managed to convince them that, while enslaving many blacks to a life of poverty, they will somehow free them from this lifestyle.
